Today, while browsing social media, I came across a naive illustration by “Beautiful Promises” that led me into deep contemplation. The card read: “The most beautiful thing in the world is arriving home. In every sense, it reflects the Spirituality of Home.”
We all know that feeling. That moment after a long journey, a tiring workday, or the noise of the crowds when we turn the key and step through the door… The weight on our shoulders lifts, we take a deep breath, and say, “I’m home.”
Embracing this concept can transform our understanding of what home truly means and how it connects to the Spirituality of Home.
The Exile of the Soul
The Spirituality of Home
But why is it that even when we are physically in our houses, we sometimes feel as if we “don’t belong”? Why is there an indescribable longing within us, a desire to go “somewhere else”?
According to the Neo-Spiritual perspective, the answer is simple: Because the world is not our true home.
We are student souls who have come to this “World School” to receive an education and undergo eprovs (spiritual trials). This place is a construction site, a laboratory, a temporary stop. Because our soul remembers the lightness and peace of the higher realms (the Spatium) from which it came, it always feels a bit like an “exile” in this heavy world of matter. The “home” we miss is not a building made of bricks and mortar, but our spiritual freedom. (Also read: Spiritual Letting Go)
The Inward Homecoming
Does this mean there is no peace in this world? Of course not.
“Arriving home” does not mean simply waiting for death. The true homecoming is the ability to return to one’s own inner center, conscience, and essence, despite the chaos outside. Every time we shed another mask, every time we realize another truth; that is when our soul feels “at home,” even while on Earth.
Perhaps, as written on that card: “Arriving home is not just the end of a road; it is the beginning of peace.”
